Serbia

June 2024

Dates:
06/10/24 to 07/02/24

After spending just under a month in Bosnia & Herzogovina, it was time to move onto Serbia, our next country. We traveled once again by bus to cross from one country to the other. This particular border crossing was relatively quick and uneventful… And before we knew it, we were in Novi Sad, our first destination in Serbia. Easy border crossings are NOT the norm, but we will take them when we get them 🙂 !!

When arriving into a new country, there are always things that are different. In Serbia, the stand-outs we immediately noticed were the vast amounts of bike lanes everywhere, extremely wide pedestrian sidewalks, a mix of very modern and neo-classical architecture, and a considerably flat landscape full of farm land. This was something very different from our previously visited countries of Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia & Herzogovina. The flat landscape also had one side benefit for us…much more enjoyable bus rides 😉 . Despite the more modern feel, there are moments you feel as though you have stepped back in time when a local Roma Horse drawn cart passes you on the street (these carts are still used by locals throughout Serbia). Serbia did not disappoint, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
