In mid May, we left Austria and flew to the Republic of Georgia, a very small country located on the Black Sea. We had a direct, overnight flight to the capital city, Tbilisi, which took a little over 4 hours. We landed around 4am and expected the airport to be quiet with very few people… This was not the case at all, the airport was full of people everywhere. It was busy like it should be the middle of the day. Kind of strange, but fine. As information, 90% of all flights arrive and depart Tbilisi very early morning between 2am and 5am which would explain why the airport was very busy.
The Republic of Georgia is made up of different regions which is mostly how we traveled around. The country is very old, steeped in history, and extremely beautiful. For such a small country, there is so much to see. This post highlights the area through the center of the country from Tbilisi to Batumi.
